IMC sec. 507.3 IMC 507.3 allows appliances that produce heat or moisture and do not produce grease or smoke to be installed without a Type II hood provided that the additional load is incorporated into the HVAC system design or a separate removal system. The electric steam table meets the requirements of this section. The Type I exhaust hood airflow was specified to accommodate this additional lode. The corresponding heated and cooled make-up air system serving the kitchen was specified to match the total exhaust load. This is noted on sheet M-2 in the “Hood Exhaust Airflow Calcs” section. Code Reference 2015 IMC 507.3 Type II hoods. Type II hoods shall be installed above dishwashers and appliances that produce heat or moistureand do not produce grease or smoke as a result of the cooking process, except where the heat andmoisture loads from such appliances are incorporated into the HVAC system design or into thedesign of a separate removal system.… 5. A5, M-1, etc. – Type I hood a. Hood clearances from combustibles to comply with IMC sec. 507.2.6 (wall & ceiling construction, gyp board, finishes, etc.); UL 710 hoods are not exempted from this requirement. Note: the rating of the existing stair enclosure (1 hr.) must be maintained. Local Estes Park amendments to the 2015 IMC recognize zero clearance hoods and require their use. The proposed hood is ETL listed to UL 710 for zero clearance. Estes Park Amendment - Code Reference 2015 IMC 507.2.6 Clearances for Type I hood. REVISE as follows: All Type I hoods shall be listed zero clearance hoods and shall not be attached directly to or contact combustible materials other than 5/8 Type X gypsum board or similar limited combustible materials. b. Identify the location of the ANSUL system’s manual pull station per IBC sec. 904.12.1. The location of the remote pull is typically determined by the fire system engineer / designer and incorporated into their deferred submittal. This information is not in the Mechanical Engineer’s scope. See fire system design drawings. 8. P-1–The kitchen/food prep floor drain should be connected to the grease waste line. IPC sec. 1003.3.1 The floor drain serving the ice machine discharge has been connect to the grease waste as requested. Sheet P-1. 9. P-1 – Provide the continuation of the sanitary line serving the new bar area. The full extent of the new sanitary drain line serving the bar area is shown on sheet P-1. The new sanitary drain line connects to the existing drain stack as indicated on sheet P-1. This has been further clarified with the approximate location of adjacent existing drain lines. 10. P-2, P-2.1, etc. –Identify the total developed length of piping from the gas meter to the furthest appliance on the new branch. IFGC sec. 402 A note was added to sheet P-2.1 with developed lengths. 11. P-2.1–Gas is not shown to the water heater. Is this served by an existing branch off of the main? Please clarify. The water heater serving the kitchen is existing. The gas line branch to this water heater is existing and is not in the new scope of work.
