This trade-in vehicle is 6 years old with 63,821 miles. This vehicle is within the parameters ofthe vehicle replacement policy of 6 years or 60,000 miles. • Light & Power Departments 2001 budget includes $26,500 for the replacement of this vehicle. (93318A) Background: The Light & Power Department has requested the replacement of a 1991 Ford 4x4 Pickup with another 4x4 Pickup used for line locating. This trade-in vehicle is 10 years old with 77,300 miles. This vehicle is within the parameters ofthe vehicle replacement policy of 10 years or 80,000-90,000 miles. (With normal use should have 80,000 + by the time it is traded) • Light & Power Departments 2001 budget includes $25,500 for the replacement ofthis vehicle. Matzke-717, Date: February 6, 2001 Re: High Voltage Tree Trimming Services Authorize Award of Contract BACKGROUND: The Light and Power Department has contracted with Asplundh Tree Expert Co. since 1998 to provide tree trimming services in the vicinity of its power lines. Since that time, Asplundh has cleared trees from approximately 20 miles ofthree phase line and 25 miles of single-phase line on the Allenspark circuit. Momentary outages on these lines have been greatly reduced. In January 2001, the Light and Power Department advertised a request for proposals to provide tree trimming services. Bid packages and specifications were delivered to 4 known qualified bidders. The only bid received was from Asplundh, our current contractor. BUDGET/COST: The proposal from Asplundh includes the following pricing: Estimated Hours Year Crew hourly Per Extended Cost Year Cost 2001 $79.30 2000 $158,600 2002 82.26 2000 164,520 The 2001 hourly crew cost is the same as the 1998-2000 cost. The 2002 cost reflects a 3.7% increase. Both years are within the 2001 and 2002 budget year amounts of $165,000. RECOMMENDATION: The Light and Power Department recommends that the 2001 contract for 2001 be awarded to Asplundh Tree Expert Co. at an estimated cost of $158,600 and that the 2002 contract be awarded subject to approval ofthe 2002 budget and satisfactory performance on the 2001 contract.
