REM Prepared 3/10/97 Revised 3/10/97 TOWN OF ESTES PARK Office Memorandum To: Light and Power Committee From: Richard E. Matzke 72222,L Date: March 12, 1997 Re: Replace Bucket Truck #27 Authorization to Purchase Bucket truck #27 is a 1982 Ford 2 ton four wheel drive chassis with a one person bucket aerial lift device. This vehicle was replaced in 1991 with truck #31, but was kept as a back up vehicle for occasions when one of our other two bucket trucks was out of service. As it turns out, there have been many occasions that truck #27 has allowed us to continue working on projects when one or both of our bucket trucks were down. However, truck #27 now has 80,000 miles of service and is at the end of its useful life. The Light and Power Department has requested $109,000 in the 1997 budget for replacement of this vehicle with a similar piece of equipment. The Light and Power Department requested bids as authorized by the Town Board in January. The bid results are summarized on the attached memorandum from Fleet Manager, Gary Shanafelt. The Light and Power Department recommends that the replacement bucket truck equipped with the Versalift aerial unit, which was the low bid, be purchased from Mountain States Ford Truck for $101,486.29 and that truck #27 be sold to Joe Whitman for $10,050 when the new truck has been placed in service. This project is required to extend back up station service to Marys Lake Power Plant and will be totally reimbursed by the Bureau.
