Minutes of a Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Town of
Estes Park, Larimer County, Colorado. Meeting held in the Town Hall in
said Town of Estes Park on the 9th day of June, 2009. Meeting called to
order by Mayor Pinkham.

Mayor Pinkham called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and all desiring to do so,
recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Irene Little/Town Citizen and Co-chair for LWV provided an update on the reusable bag
challenge and stated 10,628 bags were saved in May, up from last month. She again
urged the Town to adopt an ordinance to ban plastic bags or at a minimum charge for
the use of plastic bags. She invited the community to attend one of the upcoming open
houses for the Estes Park Memorial Observatory on Saturdays, June 13th and 27th, July
11th and 25th, and August 15th and 29th at 8:30 p.m. Rocky Mountain National Park will
also hold observing sessions on June 12th and 26th, July 10th and 24th, August 14th and
28th at 8:30 p.m. in Upper Beaver Meadows.
Paul Newendorp/Town citizen and member of Sustainable Mountain Living (SML)
extended an invitation to the Town Board to a community -wide Town Hall meeting on
Thursday, June 18, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the Town Hall Board Room to discuss the
future of Estes Valley. SML would present the Estes Valley Transition Initiative, a plan
for creating a low -energy, resilient and sustainable future.
David Habecker/Town citizen requested the Town Board refrain from reciting the `under
God' Pledge of Allegiance at Board meetings.
TOWN BOARD COMMENTS.
Trustee Blackhurst reminded the public that the Estes Park Housing Authority meeting
on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 has been cancelled.

1. TOWN ADMINISTRATOR REPORT.
° MSNBC recently produced a story on the elk in Estes Park and can be

" The Town held a premier viewing of the new Estes Park OVO entitled ^A
8noai Place toVisit, AGnaat Place to Livo" on K4onday. Juno8. 2008.
° Reported the yellow discoloration of the water is due to an excessive
amount ofdecaying leaves and needles inthe water system. The color has
not been addressed by the temporary water treatment facilities because full
chemical treatment cannot becompleted with these units.
° Safeway has submitted a formal application fora gas station across from
the CVB. This application would be conducted as a staff level review per
the Development Code and would not be presented at a Planning
Commission meeting. The application can be reviewed on the Towm'a
wmboiteorinthe Community Development.
* The proposed |GA between the Town and EPURAwmu|d be presented to
the EPURABoard attheir next meeting for their review prior toTown Board
consideration. The |GAmmu|d be presented at the July 14mTuxm Board
meeting.
The Board expressed their appreciation for the letter of support from the Volunteer
Firefighters onthe proposed Fire District.
