VVebermeier I spoke this morning with Wayne Griffin from Franklin Property Lighting. Mr. Griffin stated that he understood the( requirements that are in place for the exterior lighting at your property. Mr, Griffin agreed to adjust the lights so that they comply with the 90 degree cutoff requirement stated in the development code. Mr. Griffin stated that he would take care of this adjustment upon his next business visit to Estes Park. Mr. Griffin also asks that we release any holds on the pending sign permits as he has agreed to correct the lighting fixtures. I have agreed to his request from the Code Enforcement perspective. The Building Department staff has final approval on any required permits. In our conversation, Mr, Griffin stated that the gas station canopy height is 18' from grade. I am' still hoping to iearn the approximate date of installation of the fixtures. Please contact me once the lighting ha% been adjusted so that I may document compliance. Let me know if I may be of further assistance. The lights that need to be addressed are the lights mounted to the top of the gas station canopy and the lights installed on the former sign post between the grocery store and the Laundromat. The Estes Valley Development Code and the Estes Park Municipal Code both require that any newly installed lighting comply with a 90 degree cutoff requirement. In our last conversation, you stated that you would share that information with your lighting contractor to see if they could modify the recently installed lighting to come into compliance with the required codes. I have not noted any changes to the lighting fixtures or their orientation to date. If you have completed revisions to the lights, 1 will gladly review the modifications to determine if the changes satisfy the requirements of these codes. Our Building Department staff is also available to assist you in achieving compliance on this issue. I have attached a brochure outlining the requirements on Exterior Lighting. The full text of the code may be accessed at wwvv.estesnet.com/comdev/devcode/. The exterior lighting section can be viewed at Chapter 7.9. I have also attached photos of the areas of concern on your property. Please advise me of the height of the gas station canopy. I need to determine the height from the ground to the base of the fixtures on the canopy. Please share that information with me as you are able. Additionally, please advise me of the date that you installed the lighting described above. 9/5/2008 2 Please Vet me know if V. may offer any clarification on •these codes or•as!-.3rst you in any other manner.
