Communities must be supportive of their young people, providing positive role models and behaviors youth can emulate. While it is not possible to solve all the world'a ills, it is possible for each person to make a difference in his or her own neighborhood, school, community, workplace and social circle. To that end, we ask Uie city designate August 29 through Sept. 4 as fake the Pledge" week in Fort Collins. We ask that residents take a moment during this week to reflect on the pledge drawn up by a group of students that seeks to mske each of us apart of the solution to vio- lence in our midst. The pledge will be reprinted daily in the Coloradoan each day that week. Business cards with the pledge will be available at the newspaper and at Clear Channel Communication radio stations. And on August 81, the schools in the region will celebrate Take the Pledge Day. May this be a peaceful year. Thank you for your support Mary A.
