"NO LEFT TURN" from Stanley on to St. Vrain (HWY 36). After further discussions with Mr. Linnane regarding this matter, he has asked CDOT for a recommendation. Obviously, both the Town and the State have an interest since we have a Town street intersecting with a State highway. However, we are still awaiting a reply from CDOT. Mr. Linnane has suggested, and I concur, that we consider this possible change in September. This would allow him time to get a CDOT representative to look at the intersection and might be an easier time of year for implementing a change. In addition, I have reviewed the available data pertaining to motor vehicle accidents at or near the intersections of HWY 7 with Holiday Inn, Dunraven and Commanche. The data is for accidents from 1994 to present. There were a total of 21 accidents in.this area. Only one accident specifically lists an intersection as the location and that one is HWY 7 and Dunraven. The accidents list as follows: 100 block HWY 7..... 9 200 block HWY 7..... 1 (HWY 7 & Dunraven) 300 block HWY 7.....11. If you have any further questions, please let me know. Box 1200 Estes Park, CO 80517 Dear Greg, Per your request, I have reviewed the accident history of the intersection of Stanley Ave. and So. Saint Vrain Ave (US 36). Along with the field inspection of the intersection and the request of the Town of Estes Park, I support the removal of the No Left Turn symbol sign at this intersection. The accident history has shown no other broaside accidents. I would request that the pine trees to the west of Stanley Ave. be trimmed up to maintain the sight distance. The Department and the Town of Estes Park will continue to monitor this intersection for broadside accidents. Please inform your local police officials of the change. Thank you for your time and efforts. Sincerely, Larry J. Haas Region 4 Traffic Design Engineer 12 th#7% to -t«j CLP--Al-t_~7(' h-L O.-·/~/<- thz--O -? I also explained to him that this was for a fire hydrant to be used at the training center. His response was as follows. 1. Don't use PVC PIPE OR RUBBER GASKETS as Volatile Organic Chemical (VOC'S) can transmigrate through these materials and contaminate the water and also break down the gasket material. 2. Place a Backflow Preventer on the line before crossing the landfill. 3. The line should be designed for uneven settling. The line was designed utilizing his comments. A Vault with a backflow preventer, (double check valve assembly & strainer) approximately 450' 6,1 galvanized threaded pipe and a fire hydrant assembly. This line could be constructed for an estimated $13,090.00 in material cost's plus local contractors doing the trenching and installation. This would supply about 1200 GPM for training. If additional volume if needed, an 8" line could be installed for an additional $4,500.00 or 17,500.00 total out of pocket. If this line is installed the Fire Department should notify the water department of it use. The backflow preventer needs to be tested after use to insure that the device is working properly to protect the water system from contamination. 2 3 8 ja 3.~ 3& 2 8 Jt *9 2 320 fiE 02 - N 9 d E. 18 0 64 G 64 W f.000=020. 0 ~ g OR 3 5- /9 :0 &/ is - 25:514©.2 €£> 3 1 6> 0 3 : %116 b Y .9 -1 -2/ 3.1 & 24 + 31 2 .= 1 N F € ·E O (5 0 1 4 0 4 2 41 . cd : 9 0 : 1 li f 11:1% m R iE 0 / 0 05 05 tli < tifdb. -MenYM*fOOM 0-N r•~ r •A OVOCAO-N 1-1 ~ v· 0 5 £ 0 2 ----------INNAIrle:,VMN 90·'d LOBZIEZEOE 'ON XVi 00 N0I10031SN00 H.LV)H 03 ES:LI 301 96-6 -lnf.
