Pilb. M. July 6.1995 Board of Trustees Town of Estes Park Estes Park, CO 80517 Gentlemen, In response to a life-long dream, my wife and I opened our business, "Showcase Colorado" in Estes Park, in mid-April, 1995. While the conditions were far from ideal, i.e., the weather soon played havoc with all projections, budgets, etc., we were bound and determined to make the business work. Soon, however, when the weather actually warmed up, we were confronted with yet another obstacle - the situation with the juvenile element who had elected to take up residence in Riverside Park. Having just re-located from the Ft. Collins area, where I witnessed a similar situation in the Old Town Square area downtown, I talked with acting-chief, Randy Rapola, voicing my concern. I wish to go on record stating that lam very well satisfied with the quickness of the response, the professional manner in which things were handled, and the very positive attitude that was presented to me and the ofher merchants in Riverside Park. Chief Rapola, Lt. Greg Filsinger and the other officers were very cordial, and very responsive to our needs. While this information may or may not be of assistance when you make your decision on the permanent positio-n of Chief of Police, I felt that my comments should go on record. Whereas 1 was not hesitant to voice my concerns, I am also not hesitant to voice praise, where it is due. Sincer#14.' ~ p~_ye€30 Ar - .J. Swcase Colorado P.O. Box 148 184 E. The purpose of the Executive Session is to interview Randy Repola for the position of Police Chief. I have completed an evaluation of Mr. Repola for the period he served as Acting Chief. We will either recommend Mr. Repola as Police Chief or start a search for a new Chief. This will be recommended to the Town Board on September 12, 1995. Attachment P. O.
