TOWN of ESTES PARK Inter-Office Memorandum January 2,2007 TO: Public Works Committee FROM: Bob Goehring / Dave Mahany SUBJECT: Budgeted Parks Department Utility Pickup Replacement (G66) (Acct # 101-5200-452- 34-42 / p-165) Background: The 2007 Parks Department budget includes $37,500.00 for the replacement of Vehicle G-66, 1988 Chevrolet 3/4-ton 4x2 pickup w/utility body, 19 years old with 71,152 miles (Replacement Type 1, 80,000 - 90,000 miles or 10 years - this vehicle is NOT included in the vehicle replacement fund). (This vehicle was postponed from the 2004,2005 & 2006 budgets), this truck is used as the irrigation truck for Parks. We would like to replace this vehicle with a similar 4x2 pickup w/utility body. • In Sept 2006 the 1988 vehicle incurred transmission and engine failure, repair costs would far exceed the value of the vehicle, this vehicle would not be cost effective to repair. Staff is researching ways to dispose of this vehicle in a cost effective manner. Cost/Budget: Cost: • Phil Long Ford - Colorado Springs, Co. 2007 Ford F-250 4x2 w/utility body. Bid Price : $26,575.00 • Transwest GMC - Henderson, Co. 2007 GMC 2500 4x2 w/utility body..................................Bid Price : $28,707.58 • Weld County Garage - Greeley Co. 2007 GMC 2500 4x2 w/utility body..................................Bid Price : $29,930.00 • Spradlev Barr Ford - Ft. Collins, Co. 2006 Ford F-250 4x2 w/utility body..........................................NO RESPONSE Budget: $37,500.00 (101-5200-452-34-42 / p-165) Cost: $26,575.00 Action: Staff recommends: Purchasing a new 2007 F-250 4x2 w/utility body to replace G-66 for a cost of $26,575.00 from Phil Long Ford, Colorado Springs, Co. Disposing of current G-66 (1988 Chevrolet) in the most cost effective manner.
