TOWN of ESTES PARK Inter-Office Memorandum September 7,2005 TO: Public Works Committee FROM: Bill Linnane 0/#/ SUBJECT: Park Shop Relocation Project Background: Dallman Construction and BASIS Architecture submitted a cost estimate and quote to demo and rebuild the Park Shop at the locations indicated on the attached map. The tentative schedule is to begin construction of the new building this fall and allow the employees use of the old building until the new shop is completed in spring 2006. At that time, the old shop would be demolished to allow the parking area to be graded and paved. The tentative completion date for all of this work is April/May 2006. The bid does not include the asphalt driveway adjacent to the new shop. The Estes Park Salitation District has granted the Town an access easement and would like us to pave prior to usage of the new shop. This item will be addressed in a separate memo to the Public Works Committee. Cost/Budget: Cost: $250,000 Budget estimate: $250,000 Action: Staff recommends approval of the Dallman quote of $250,000. la TOWN of ESTES PARK Inter-Office Memorandum September 7,2005 TO: Public Works Committee FROM: Bill Linnane 04/ SUBJECT: Estes Park Sanitation District/New Park Shop Shared Driveway Background: Please see the attached sketch. The Estes Park Sanitation District (EPSD) granted the Town access across its property and the driveway access would be shared. They requested an asphalt surface due to dust problems. Staff estimates the driveway portion (not the parking lot portion) to cost $20,000. Staff can solicit costs from two contractors. It should be noted that the proposed 2006 budget includes rough estimates for: 1. A new parking lot adjacent to the Park Shop $ 30,000 2. Fence, cabinets, miscellaneous final detail items for the Park Shop $ 25,000 3. Visitor Center landscaping $100,000 These figures should be on the high side to allow for unknowns. Cost/Budget: Cost: $20,000 Budget: The 2005 Community Reinvestment Fund included infrastructure items that are to be delayed. These items could fund this request. Action: Staff recommends approval to build the driveway at a cost of $20,000. BL/lb 2-1

TOWN of ESTES PARK Inter-Office Memorandum September 7,2005 TO: Public Works Committee FROM: Laurie Button @5 SUBJECT: Street Sign Replacement Project Project Update: Installation of the first phase of the Street Sign Replacement Project will begin the first week in October. In this phase, new double-sided metal signs will be placed at 67 intersections along Highways 7,34 and 36. The installation will be done by in-house personnel. Bruce Kane, who worked for the Parks Department as a seasonal this summer, has agreed to oversee the field work. Bruce has extensive management experience and we feel will be an excellent person to handle this project. He will be assisted by Matthew O'Reilly, a 2005 Estes Park High School graduate, who will be a temporary employee assigned to the project. Weather permitting, the work should be completed by the end of October. Delivery of the posts is expected any day (the original delivery date was last Friday), with the signs themselves due to arrive within two weeks. To date the cost of materials is approximately $10,000. The 2005 budget earmarked $20,000 for the first year of this project. Included with this update are proofs of the first signs, as well as the finalized sign specifications. These specs will be added to the Estes Valley Development Code as an amendment for the future use of developers and engineers. /lb
