Widmer ~4 Director of Public Works DATE: May 8, 1986 RE: 1986 Street Improvement Program ~ Attached is the proposed 1986 Street Improvement Program. Priorities have been set, as in the past, by using the Pavement Management Study done for the Town in 1983, with a supplemental detailed study done last fall, coupled with engineering judgement and field inspections. The detailed PMS study done last fall has resulted in direct savings of $25,000 for this year's project by reducing overlay thicknesses. Net sav ings for this study, taking into account the $3,200 cost of the study, is estimated at $21,000, an approximate 7 to 1 return. This year's project proposes 2.75 miles of overlay, two areas for new paving, and some miscellaneous curbing, at a total estimated cost of $161,600. If bid prices vary significantly from the estimate, the project list will be modified to bring the project in line with the budget. RDW:ca Attachment P. O. SPOTTS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER 6-10-85 Mr. Rich Widmer, Town of Estes Park Public Works Director PO Box 1200 Estes Park, CO 80517 - Dear Rich, - G/&185* I appreciate the time you and Steve took 4%710 visit with Jay Roberts and I regarding the detention pond and our water run-off concerns. Thank you for reviewing the history of the situation and helping to problem-solve in a prac- tical manner! I would like to suggest, for your consideration in next year's planning, continuing Prospect Ave. to the Retirement Cottages. We will be considering paving more parking area to the Northwest of Prospect Park, as the need for additional parking has become necessary. Completing Prospect Ave. would provide another access to the medical center complex, which I believe would reduce the traffic congestion in this area. Please let me know if other information is needed for this request to be consid- ered.
