OF YEARS: 19 Years NO. OF DAYS: 24 MANAGEMENT: Colorado Hunter-Jumper Association PURPOSE: Education and promotion of Hunter-Jumper ACTIVITIES: Performance in hunter and jumper classes ADVERTISING: Trade magazines & direct mail by the show management. Town of Estes lists on their yearly events calendar and ads with a calendar of events on it. Local newspaper has free article coverage. They have use of the grounds for three weeks for a flat fee. The first year of three weeks the first two weeks were very well attended, with the third week about half. This year they overall attendance was down. They are working with some new ideas to attract the horse exhibitors for a longer time. As far as we are concerned, we have plenty of horses on the grounds. COMMENTS: The Hunter-Jumper horse industry is thriving, all Hunter- Jumper shows have increased across the country. This show holds three Grand Prix Jumps with prize monies of $15,000 each. About half of the exhibinors are here for the entire three weeks. The others stay for one weeks. The majority do stay in motels, houses and condos and eat out a lot. Many downtown stores relate their evening shopping habits are very good. f SPECIAL EVENTS EVALUATION 2001 RIVERSIDE RHYTHMS DATE: June 11 through August 29, 2001, each Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday NO. OF YEARS: 1 NO. OF DAYS: 36 MANAGEMENT: Town of Estes Park Special Events PURPOSE: To entertain tourists and locals in the late afternoon and to enhance the visitor's stay while they are shopping or dining downtown. ACTIVITIES: Entertainment by ten local performers ADVERTISING: Both local newspapers - weekly. 2001 EXPENSES: 8,790 GROWTH POTENTIAL: Attendance is greatly influenced by the weather. Many people came and went. We should continue this positive influence at Riverside Plaza. COMMENTS: We had ten groups perform this summer. We received several thank you's from local merchants thanking us for having entertainment in Riverside Plaza, and also received positive response from the entertainers on location and time of event. We purchased six chairs this Spring as a test to use, be weathered and work with for easy of handling, etc. The Samsonite poly-fold chair through one season held up very well. There is a five year guarantee. Bids: Bleachers International of Strasburg, CO $15.00 each plus ship Monroe Manufacturing of Colfax, IA $15.00 each plus ship Budget $6,000 for 400 chairs Action Staff recommends purchase of 400 chairs from Bleachers International of Strasburg, Colorado.
