Town of Estes Park Community Development Committee May 25,2000 SENIOR CENTER MEALS 656 congregate meals and 227 meals on wheels were served in April for a total of 883. PROMOTION The Spring issue of the newsletter, Seniors in the Rockies, was distributed the week of May 15. Highlighted by photographs were the Leap Year and Spring Fling parties which were very successful. June is "Each One Reach One" month in which we are encouraging each active member to invite one other person for lunch or a program. The Senior Center brochure has been printed and will be distributed during June. Both the newsletter and brochure remind folks that Meals on Wheels are available through the Center. FUND RAISING The Seniors sold 37 tickets for the Duck Race for a total of $703 net proceeds. Dody Banker, owner of the Spruce House, has donated a nativity scene from the Lynn Haney collection to the Senior Center. Tickets will be sold at $1 each for a chance to win the nativity set which has a retail value of $1,300. The drawing will be held at the Thanksgiving Feast on November 21, and the scene will be on display at the Senior Center until that time. hQ~,The Board is planning a barbecue open to the public on July 4th. Tickets will (1QFW.r include vantage seating for the fireworks display. DEDICATION OF TREES Members Ross Moor, Lois Chase and Walt Richards each donated a spruce tree for the Heritage Garden in memory of loved ones. Dan Speedlin and his crew did an outstanding job of selecting the trees and planting them. Dan also arranged for a dedication ceremony held on Arbor Day which was attended by members of the Tree Board. These trees will also be identified with name plates on the plague at Town Hall. OPEN HOUSE The Open House at the Senior Center was held on Saturday, May 20 in conjunction with the Museum's free day featuring the Clatworthy exhibit. June 19-23 History Camp Session 1, MacGregor Ranch June 21,7 PM, at the Museum The Tobermory Manuscript James Work discusses his new book, The Tobermory Manuscript, a historical novel chronicling the hunt for a manuscript rumored to have been written by Rocky Mountain Jim. June 25 FREE DAY Opportunity to see Clatworthy and Wish You Were Here exhibits free of charge 2. Summer Intern Susan Zietkiewicz, a master's degree candidate in the History Department at Colorado State University, will be conducting an internship beginning in June to develop an interpretive plan for the Cobb-Macdonald Cabin. Community Development Committee Advertising Program Report May 25,2000 I. Requests for Information A. Total requests as of 4/3 0/00 are up 18.9% over the same period in 1999. Totals are 27,100 compared to 22,791 last year. Differential is 4,309. Graph attached. B. Advertising generated requests as of 4/30/00 are up 24.2% compared to the same period last year. Totals are 20,758 vs. 16,716. Differential is 4,042. C. E-mailed requests as of4/30/00 are up 31.7% over last year. Totals are 2,987 vs. 2,268 last year. Differential is 719. Graph attached D. 800 calls continue to drop, and are down 643 calls (5.9%) compared to March 31 of last year. Totals are 9,971 compared to 10,837 in 1999. Graph attached. II. Banner Ad Test Results for April We placed a banner ad on Home & Away magazine's table of contents web page in early March.
