Proposals were received from Charles Tour & Travel Services and the Estes Park Trolley Corp. After evaluating and confirming bids, it is recommended that the contract for transportation services for all seven conferences be awarded to Estes Park Trolley Corp. for a lump sum total of $7,000.00. Statistics: For January - Attached. 2. Exhibits: John Carr and volunteers have drywalled a portion of the Museum's main gallery and cut a doorway through to the back room to improve traffic flow. We are now beginning work on specific exhibit changes. Due to the extensive nature of the this project. we have moved the opening reception for ward two weeks, to April 15 from 5 to 7 p.m. We continue to work with guest curator Mary Denise Smith on the women's clothing exhibit. slated to open May 27 in the Park Service Headquarters building. 3. Outreach: Duke Sumonia's program. "The History of Aviation in Estes Park." a.ttracted 40 audience members on February 17. The Museum is a cosponsor of the Women's History Month luncheon on March :5. On March 12 at 2 p.m. in the Hondius Room, Leslie Burger will present "Songs and Stories: Suffragists and Other Colorado Women." John Carr and I have been asked to speak at the Colorado-Wyoming Association of Museums' annual meeting this May. We will both serve on a panel discussing creative approaches to involving the community in museum work. In addition, I will serve on a panel discussing exhibit design on a small budget. 4. Grants: The Museum is working with the Friends to submit a grant to Hewlett- Packard for up to $1500 for computer equipment. We're also working with a volunteer to resubmit our application for state historical funds. 5. Volunteer Committee: Our committee of staff and volunteers met again on Feb. 7, this time to discuss volunteer recognition. The Friends have agreed to assist us with a recognition activity in appreciation of our dedicated volunteers. 6. Board Activity: Members of the Museum Advisory Board continue to attend training sessions at CSU on planning. fundraising. and evaluation. The Friends Board has planned a half-day evaluation retreat on March 17. 7. Bookshop: We have evaluated the Museum's bookshop and returned titles not directly tied to our mission. The Friends have reprinted Weaving Mountain Memories, which will be distributed in the Ailenspark area by Jack Zumwinkel and elsewhere by Bighorn Books. 8.
