Mr. Bob Scott
General Manager
Estes Park Fair Grounds
Estes Park, Colo. 80517
Dear Mr. Scott,
In follow-up of a call to your office we are verifying our request for use of the
down -town ticket sales booth managed by the Fair Grounds office.
Mr. Stanley Pratt has offered the opening of the tri-plex theater(s) for the
benefit of the Estes Park Medical Center Foundation. Mr. Pratt is furnishing
the film(s), the tickets, and the operators for the evening of the film(s) showing.
The Elizabeth Guild is serving as the group to help initiate the "kick-off" event.
Members of the Guild will want to sell tickets to the event --people indicating
film of choice as they want to or not. At this writing we do not know if we
will have a "raffle prize" of great value associated with the film(s). That idea
is still being discussed. Whether we have a pre -theater party is also being
reviewed. What has been decided is the cost of each ticket, namely, $10.00.
Because at this writing we cannot give you the exact date of the opening we are
asking for the use of the booth the first week in June, counting on the theaters
being open sometime that week.
Again, we would emphasize that the event is a benefit for the Hospital Foundation.
We would appreciate your favorable response at your earliest convenience in order
that we can proceed to get volunteers to "man" the booth during the first week of
June. Thank you very much.

Subject: Re -locate museum east boundary and
move former RMNP Headquarters to site
Copies: Town Board and EPURA
The building located at 111 East Riverside Drive, most recently Estes
Appliance E TV, was the administration building for Rocky Mountain
National Park from 1915 to 1923. In 1925 it was leased and used by
C.H. Bond, who had started the Estes Park Townsite Company and platted
the Town in 1905.
Because of its historic significance, that building should be restored
and preserved. It can not remain at its present location due to Urban
Renewal -requirements, so the museum's board of directors voted to accept
the building, provided additional land can be obtained in Stanley Park
on which to place it. That provision complies with the museum's request
of April 22, 1985 (attached) to adequately provide for structures of
historic significance and for future expansion.
We are therefore requesting that the east boundary of the Estes Park
Area Historical Museum grounds be adjusted to the campsite road shown
on the Stanley Park Master Plan, and follow the angle of that road to
Hiway 36 per compromise agreement with the Horse Show and Rodeo Committee.
To dispel fears that some may have, the Museum has no desire to create
a building"junk yard". Our intent is to preserve our heritage, provide
authentic platforms in which to learn and feel that heritage; and do it
in a tasteful, well -landscaped, and pleasant setting.
Because of time limitations we must have a written answer to this request
by April 15.
Thank you very much for your consideration.

ESTES PARK BLIC LIBRARY
(SERVING THE ESTES VALLEY FOR 70 YEARS)
April 10, 1987
The Library Board of Trustees is nearing a final decision
on the site for a new library.
Three possible sites in Stanley Park have been re-
evaluated: 1) Fourth street adjacent to the Senior Center, 2)
around the corner fronting on Manford Ave. across from the
Estes Park Rent All, and 3) directly south of and adjacent to
the old swimming pool building
After a careful setting of priorities and weighting of
the criteria, the Library Board arrived at the following
conclusions:
1) Fourth Street adjacent to the Senior Center is the
preferred site IF the new library is located in
Stanley Park.
2) The Library Board's second choice in Stanley Park
is around the corner fronting on Manford Ave. across
from the Estes Park Rent All.
3) The old swimming pool site is NOT a suitable
location for the new library.
4) Wherever the library is located, the Board has
determined that a minimum of 1 acre is required.
Bond Park is also still being considered as a possible
location of the new library.
The Library Board will be holding a full -day retreat in
about ten days at which time we hope to make the final decisions
as to site and size of the building. We anticipate coming to
your next meeting to inform you as to these final decisions.
As of today, do you see any problems with our possible
use of the Fourth Street site, adjacent to the Senior Center??

George Hix
Chairman, Stanley Park Committee
Town of Estes Park
Dear Mr. Hix:
On behalf of the Estes Park Horseshow and Rodeo Committee, I
would like to suggest that the Stanley Park Committee reconsider
the tentative schedule for the arena bond election. Rather than
a June election we suggest that the vote be scheduled for the
fall of 1987.
As you know the concept of the building has changed significantly.
A June election would not, in our judgement, provide adequate
opportunity for public input in the preliminary design stage.
In addition, significant decisions have yet to be made regarding
1) total project cost, and 2) that portion of total project cost
to be funded by the bond issue. These decisions are critical.
We feel that Town Board members should have the opportunity to
carefully consider them without operating under a severe time
constraint.
A fall vote would have the additional advantage of permitting
consideration of the capital and operating expenses of the project
in the course of developing the 1988 budget for Stanley Park and
other Town departments.
In summary, we feel that a revised election schedule would be in the
best interests of the voting public and the project.
