DOWNTOWN LIVE REPORT -- 199,1
OBSERVATIONS
-Promotion of events was mostly accomplished by; news release,, poster„
and a banner flying' on, the days of the shows.. The exception' to this_
was: a mention] of a Jazziest in an ad run by the town on the: week of
Spring/. Runoff/, Gall Walk andi the private promotion of the Teddy Bear
Pi.onic;. by the Talkin Teddy.,
-Bonnie: Phipps-' appearance at the Teddy Bear Aicnic- was given) a photo,
ini both, the News and Post.. She has. a "name" and' the picnic: is unique.
-The concert bands attract much attention and band members bring famil
and. friends...
- Jaz& plays: to) many; kinds of people..
- Promotion of an' event is an art in.' itself... It'.. takes more. than Il can
dog as_' manager to , do it' right..
-Ti don''t; see that the things that happened' this summer were much diffe
from the: nightly; shows of the 3-, previous years.,
-Weather is everything.. Sun.' is. necessary? to• produce a. good audience
which will. stay; around..
-The,. Plaza is. a good place to watch a performance and a good place, to)
give one..
-People arec still: discovering' Riverside Plaza..
-C:hairs provided• during, the band concerts: were quickly. filled.. People
sit 0211 the grass if they, don't: have to,.
•-Bruiser. is a BIG' hit. on Elkhorn, Ave., Appearances.. at NPVS andi Stanley,
Village were. att: the wrong, time of day and year..
-There: are many performance festivals around the state.. The success:o`
one will. depend' on, its unique character„ location„ promotion to, an
interested audience„ attention given to' needs of the performer,. and
o.omforti. of the audience...
