Re: Multi -purpose Arena
Dear Mr. Hix;
Recently the Town Staff went through a process of examining several design -build
team proposals for the design and construction of the new arena at Stan P C Park.
When the process was complete, the design -build team of Thorp Associates,
Estes Park TCM, Inc. was chosen to accomplish the project. Although the Town has
tentatively postponed the project due to potential financing problems related to
wording in the original documents which donated the property to the Town, it is rn
hope that the Town can benefit from preliminary investigations on the project which
Thorp Associates has accomplished.
The original schedule planned for the Arena specified that design was to have been
complete in approximately a month. Due to this fact and in an effort to be a
.conscientious consultant to the Town, Thorp Associates began evaluating options and
alternatives on the project. This preliminary investigation was necessary to maintain
the schedule, since many decisions had to be made before the exact roject budget
could be defined. For that reason, we feel that it can be an ilnmens- potthe t when
Town
if Thorp Associates, P.C. can continue its prelnninary plane g p
process, so
financing is available on the project, the Town wr l know more precisely what
elements of the design it can afford, where the building can best be situated on the site,
and what cost savings options are available to the Town. We at Thorp Associates and
TCM, Inc. maintain our enthusiasm for this project, and feel that with little more
effort, the design process can be taken to a point that will be of great value to the
Town when the project is ready to be constructed. For these reasons, we hope that the
Stanley Park Committee will be able to allocate funds that can be available to complete
this designprocess and eliminate the need for redesign work and higher costs at water
date.
We appreciate your review of this letter and would be happy to discuss our work with
you at any time. We are very proud to have been asked to become a part of this
project, and still look forward to its completion.
Sincerely,
o[Jr M. Thorp, President
