As a kid spending summers here, it was my paradise. I was determined to make this my full-time home. Years later, when I was able to make that a reality, I realized that there were certain challenges to living in a small mountain town. Starting and operating a business, raising a family, and having a senior parent living in Estes Park has given me the opportunity to see and experience various aspects of living in this wonderful mountain community. When I was elected to the Town Board in 2018, I thought that I was pretty "in-tune" with the issues that we face in this town. What I learned was that what I knew of town business and the plights of different citizen groups was really only the tip of the iceberg. The last 4 years of serving this community has taught me so much more, more about others and even more about myself. I have found that listening is more important than talking and that there are no cut and dry issues. We are a community made up of very intelligent, hard working citizens from various backgrounds. Whether we are talking about people trying to work hard to make a living for their families or our retired who put in countless hours volunteering for our numerous groups, we are all striving to make a better community for all. We need workforce housing/daycare availability for families to help our businesses thrive as well as provide services for our entire population, while still striving to keep the charm of Estes Park and being good stewards of our lands. Staying fiscally responsible, we need to maintain the town's current properties, while still looking for solutions for any unforeseen crisis. Finding a balance for all is a challenge that we face today and in our future.
