Update on fencing project, presented by Scott R. & Mike R. 2. GOCO Grant cycle 2011 – deadline is MARCH 4, 2011, do we need approval from Town Board to proceed? 3. Set budgeting deadlines for 2011 4. Selection of topics for tree meetings in May, presented by Sandy, Scott R. & Diana Selby (see topics attached) 5. Other new business Ideas for topics, submitted by Diana Selby: - biology of the beetle and treatment methods (or you could break this into two talks like last year) - aerial survey (how it is done and 2010 results w/ focus on Estes Valley) and/or local MPB activity (beetle busters) - HOA or landowner successes and failures from the past several years (again- what is happening locally w/ regards to treatments) - Local resources (where to take slash and materials, CSFS seedling tree program, managing for the future forest, etc.) - Current efforts from Estes Valley and surrounding areas (other beetle buster programs, bark beetle coalitions, etc.) Additional ideas for other seminars (similar to programs you put on with the Tree Symposium the last few years): - defensible space/wildfire mitigation/”Firewise” landscaping - general insect and disease issues in Estes Valley (beyond MPB) - ecology of lodgepole pine forests and/or ecology of ponderosa pine forests, etc. - tree selection for wildlife - xeriscape ideas for Estes Valley - native trees - community forestry topics (value of trees, planting for energy conservation, Tree Board activities) - tree care (planting, maintenance, and/or pruning) - general forest management topics (why manage?, harvesting methods, different equipment used, etc.)
