TREE BOARD MEETING
TOWN OF ESTES PARK
October 6, 2006

Meeting called to order at 8:32 a.m.
1. Pine Beetles
Wendy McCartney spoke on the Western Slope beetle problem and the beetles in our area
Tree care: deep root watering
Dwarf mistletoe problem
Drought
Grand Lake area has more of a monoculture and is more of a sub alpine region
Our area has more types of trees such as: ponderosa, spruce, lodgepole, aspen,
Engelmann spruce, etc.
We are montane, sub alpine
If the tree has turned red or brown, the beetle has already flown

Members will study web page draft sheets and comment at next meeting
3. Schedule for news releases
No set schedule for news releases
Beetle information will be available in late winter
Winter watering and wildlife protection coming soon
