TREE BOARD MEETING
TOWN OF ESTES PARK
March 3, 2006
Members: Sue Doylen Public Works Committee Rep. 2-year term
Russ Franklin Parks Department Rep. 4-year term
Wendell Amos EVIA Rep. 4-year term
Alice Gray EVIA Rep. 4-year term
Bob Seifert Community Representative 4-year term
Attendees: Russ Franklin, Zach Wheatley, Keri Iverson, Bob Seifert, Scott Roederer, Sue
Doylen, Bruce Kane and a guest, Dave Mahany.
The meeting was held on site at the new Park Shop and CVB building. Tours of the grounds and
structures were included. The meeting was called to order at 8:30 a.m.
1. Colorado Tree Coalition: Apply once a year in December – up to a $3,000 grant.
2. CVB Landscaping
• Maps for CVB and downtown flowers
1. Voss signs to identify beds/landscape
2. Interchangeable signs needed for downtown
• Different zones for CVB:
1. Manicured urban/native look
- layers of native grasses
- turf areas
- terra cotta planters at all entrances; maybe different sizes/tiers; incorporate native
grasses
• April 7th – grand opening
3. New Park Shop
• Create live screen between new Park Shop and parking lot. Will be a wet area for
appropriate grass and aspen trees.
• Make use of existing trees.
4. Arbor Day will be May 12 – to be discussed at the next meeting, which will be April 7th.
The next Tree Board meeting will be at 8:30 a.m. April 7, 2006.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:15 a.m.
