TREE BOARD MEETING #40 TOWN OF ESTES PARK March 10, 2003 Members: Jeff Barker Public Works Committee Rep. 2-year term Dan Speedlin Parks Department Rep. 2-year term Tim Rische Parks Department Rep. 4-year term Russ Franklin Parks Department Rep. 4-year term Wendell Amos EVIA Rep. 4-year term Alice Gray EVIA Rep. 4-year term Bob Seifert Community Representative 4-year term Present: Wendall Amos, Jeff Barker, Tim Rische, Bob Seifert, Russ Franklin, Alice Gray and Dan Speedlin were in attendance. 1. Old business A. The landscape will be cleaned up around our historic, Champion Tree, the state’s largest balsam poplar. Plans are for xeriscaping around the tree, some stone benches and a plaque. Hopefully all will be done by Arbor Day. 2. New business A. Arbor Day will be Friday morning, May 16th. There will be five celebrations with plantings. They will be located at the Champion Tree; the tunnel by Ed’s Cantina; the Intermediate School; the Elementary School; and the Senior Center. Coffee and cookies will be served at the Senior Center. B. Ninety percent of the trees that have died had dwarf mistletoe. C. The next meeting will be at 8:30 a.m. April 11, 2003 in the Administrative Conference Room.
