TREE BOARD MEETING #27 TOWN OF ESTES PARK November 8, 2000 Members: Jeff Barker Public Works Committee Rep. 2-year term Dan Speedlin Parks Department Rep. 2-year term Tim Rische Parks Department Rep. 4-year term Russ Franklin Parks Department Rep. 4-year term Wendell Amos EVIA Rep. 4-year term Alice Gray EVIA Rep. 4-year term Dick Lang EVIA Rep. 2-year term Present: Dan Speedlin, Russ Franklin, Tim Rische, Jeff Barker, Wendell Amos, Dick Lang and Alice Gray were in attendance. The meeting was called to order at 8:30 a.m. 1. We discussed the effects of drought on the trees. Russ will put an article in the Trail-Gazette on the importance of winter watering. 2. Russ will redo the article on pine beetle activity, the nature plant list and will also write the Memorial Tree Guidelines. 3. The Tree Board Information Racks are up at the east entrance of the Municipal Building. We went to look at the racks. They are in a dimly lit hallway where a person would not notice the racks or be able to read the information. The Tree Board decided unanimously that the information racks would be more effective for our Estes Valley people if they are mounted near our Memorial Tree Plaque. 4. Tim stated that all the Tree City renewal papers have been completed and sent. 5. There has been a big beaver problem in Estes Park. Twenty-five trees have been chopped down and the damage totals $10,000. 6. The next meeting will be held at 8:30 a.m. June 9, 2000.
