HomeMy WebLinkAboutAPPLICATION Events Permit for Estes Park rotary Duck Race Festival on 05/06/2023Special Event Permit Application Event Information EVENT INFORMATION If you are applying for a new event you must apply at least 120 days prior to the event, to allow time for Town Agencies and Town Board approvals. If you are applying for an existing event, you must apply at least 60 days prior to the event. Please make sure to have the following documents ready to upload along with your application. You will not be able to complete the application without these documents: Map of the park you are requesting with your layout overlaid, event logo for advertising, map of route if parade/race/marathon. Your application is not complete until you have finished All pages and signed the form. Group Type * Description of Event * What is your target market for your event?* Concert Craft/Art Fair Demonstration Festival Parade Race Rally Road Closure Other If your event is a race/marathon, parade, or requires a road closure, and is within the town limits, please describe route and submit a map (include address if known): Upload a map with the route highlighted Local Non-Profit Locally Sponsored Other * To be considered for a local non-profit rate, you must be registered with the Secretary of State as a non-profit organization and 80% of membership must reside in the Estes Valley. The 35th Rotary Duck Race Festival will be held Saturday, May 6, 2023. The Rotary Club of Estes Park with the generous help of many volunteers is proud to carry on the storied tradition of the Duck Race. The festival will include live entertainment, sales of duck-related merchandise and fun family activities at George Hix Riverside Plaza and at Nicky's Steakhouse. Major sponsors and Participating Organizations may host 8' tables to sell duck adoptions and inform the public about the mission of their organization. The Duck Drop will occur at Nicky's Steakhouse at 1:00 p.m. and the finish line will be at George Hix Riverside Plaza. Fifty volunteer deputies will observe the race from the bank and the Pied Piper will walk the entire route to keep an eye on the ducks. Upon completion of the race numbers of the top finishing ducks will be transmitted to Duck Central where duck numbers will be correlated to adoption purchasers for allocation of top prizes and merchant prizes. Winners will be posted on video screens and/or personal devices (i.e. phones and tablet PCs) that have access to the live feed of the race. Prize winners will also be notified by email of their prize and how to collect it. The target market is adults age 18 and over who want to purchase a duck adoption to benefit local participating organizations including Board members, volunteers, service recipients, and other supporters of participating organizations. we anticipate 65-70 participating organizations to sell adoptions on-line for several weeks prior to the race and on race day. Prizes will include $10,000, $6,000, and $4,000 cash prizes and trip prizes to Yosemite National Park and Yellowstone National Park. Additionally, local merchants will donate hundreds of prizes worth $20 or more each. A variety of family friendly activities and musical entertainment will also be offered. The Duck Race is a beloved tradition of the community that signifies the opening of the travel season and draws thousands of visitors to our community on the first Saturday in May (May 6, 2023)..
