The 35th Rotary Duck Race Festival will be held Saturday, May 6, 2023. The Rotary Club of Estes Park with the
generous help of many volunteers is proud to carry on the storied tradition of the Duck Race. The festival will
include live entertainment, sales of duck-related merchandise and fun family activities at George Hix Riverside
Plaza and at Nicky's Steakhouse. Major sponsors and Participating Organizations may host 8' tables to sell duck
adoptions and inform the public about the mission of their organization. The Duck Drop will occur at Nicky's
Steakhouse at 1:00 p.m. and the finish line will be at George Hix Riverside Plaza. Fifty volunteer deputies will
observe the race from the bank and the Pied Piper will walk the entire route to keep an eye on the ducks. Upon
completion of the race numbers of the top finishing ducks will be transmitted to Duck Central where duck
numbers will be correlated to adoption purchasers for allocation of top prizes and merchant prizes. Winners will
be posted on video screens and/or personal devices (i.e. phones and tablet PCs) that have access to the live
feed of the race. Prize winners will also be notified by email of their prize and how to collect it.
The target market is adults age 18 and over who want to purchase a duck adoption to benefit local participating
organizations including Board members, volunteers, service recipients, and other supporters of participating
organizations. we anticipate 65-70 participating organizations to sell adoptions on-line for several weeks prior to
the race and on race day. Prizes will include $10,000, $6,000, and $4,000 cash prizes and trip prizes to
Yosemite National Park and Yellowstone National Park. Additionally, local merchants will donate hundreds of
prizes worth $20 or more each. A variety of family friendly activities and musical entertainment will also be
offered. The Duck Race is a beloved tradition of the community that signifies the opening of the travel season
and draws thousands of visitors to our community on the first Saturday in May (May 6, 2023)..
