MUNICIPAL BUILDING ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 1976 AT 7:30 P.N.
The eighteenth meeting of the Commission was called to order by Chairman Dykes at
7:40 p.m. Members present were Dykes, Chaffin, Mencher, Ebersold, Cowles, ?ikel,
Switzer, Stauffer, Rogers and Deffenbaugh.
1. Committees working on the Town Fair to be held in Bond Park on Saturday, September
25, 1976 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., reported as follows:
a. Beard Growing - Al Mencher reported that there will be 12 categories plus
recognition of a special category for beards started after August 25th. If
weather is inclement the Beard Contest will be held in the Wheel Bar.
b. Pie Baking - Gene Dykes reported for his wife on behalf of Jaycettes
that there wild be three categories: fruit, cream and "surprise". If weather
is inclement, Pie Contest will be held in the Mall.
c. Booths - Rusty Mikel sported on booth plans. A final list will be put
together by September 24th and she will confer with Chairman Dykes regarding
arrangement of booths in Bond Park. Coffee will be sold at 100, pie 250 per
piece:
d. Chris Switzer suggested that the Middle School Band be invited to perform
between ten and eleven a.m. to get the crowd interested. Ruth Stauffer so
moved and the motion carried.
e. Al Mencher moved that not more than $15.00 be allocated for ribbons to
be awarded to winners of the Beard Growing and Pie Baking Contests. The
chairmen are to obtain their own ribbons and be reimbursed. Motion was
seconded and carried.
2. Charles Chaffin reported that rehearsals for the Musical had been announced. A
decision will be made soon as to whether or not it will be held. If it is not held
as scheduled on October 28, 29 and 30, the money received from the Bicentennial
Commission ($250) will revert to that organization.
3. Al Mencher submitted a resolution to the effect that the Estes Park Centennial -
Bicentennial Commission be dissolved effective October 31, 1976. A copy of the
resolution outlining timetable for dissolution is attached and made a Fart of these
Minutes. The motion was seconded and carried. Chairman Dykes will confer with the
Treasurer regarding remaining funds. The three sets of officers (Chairman and
Secretary only, plus the current Treasurer) will meet on Wednesday afternoon, October
13, 1976 at the McDonald Book Store to prepare reports described in the first para-
graph of the resolution.
4. The meeting adjourned at 8:50 p.m.

MOTION: That the Estes Park Centennial -Bicentennial Commission on Oct. 18,
1976 approve a. final report on activities during its existence, prepared and
signed by the Secretary, anda final acoounting of funds expended with
outstanding bills so designated, prepared and. signed by the Treasurer.
Further, that the reports of the Secretary and Treasurer glong
with all minutes, documents and any and all items relating to the
official proceedings of the Estes Park Centennial -Bicentennial Commission
be forwarded by the president to Estes Park Town Administrator Dale Hill
who will also take possession of any and all petty cash and postage stamps.
Further, that all of the above named items be presented to M1r. Hill
prior to Oct. 26, 1976.
Further, that • the Myer of Estes Park be requested to formally
dissolve the Estes Park Centennial -Bicentennial Commission at the Town
Board meeting on Oct. 26, 1976 effective Oct. 31, 1976 and to designate
the Town of Estes Park as the repository for all minutes documents and
any and all other items relating to the official proceedings of the
Estes Park Centennial -Bicentennial Commission.
Further, that the T9wn of Estes Park, following the Mayor's actin,
notfay the Colorado Centennial-Bieentennial Commission of the dissolution.
