Estes Park, Colorado 80517 MINUTES OF THE ESTES PARK CENTENNIAL -BICENTENNIAL COMMISSION, 19 i 76 The tenth meeting of the Commission came to order at 7:35 p.m. January 19, 1976, in Room 100 of the Municipal Building. Present for Roll Call: Ginger Adriam, Marcia Bruns, Brenda Blanchar, Charles Chaffin, Ruth Deffenbaugh, Gene Dykes,George Cowles, Julian Ebersold, Margaret Houston, Dick Hillyer, Al Mencher, Mary Rosener, Ruth Stauffer, Marge Wolpert. Chairman Al Mencher reported the resignation by letter of John Ramey and introduced as new member George Cowles. The minutes of the meeting of December 15 were approved as distributed I. Dick Hillyer reported for his committee on public relations. In the month of March a show will be put together for service clubs and other groups, comprised of 13-minute film from the State files and slides of local scenes taken by George Cowles, accompanied by narrative on the work of this Commission. Rental cost of 530 for the film was approved by motion and unanimous vote. II. Al Mencher reported that the request for $750 grant from the State Commission has been submitted under the "Colorado CommUNITY Program" for towns designated at CBC Communities. The three projects tentatively designated for $250 each are (1) Purchase of flag, flag- pole, base and plaque for Visitors Center; (2) Production of "Music through 200 Years" in June; (3) Production of historical pageant, "Styles through the Years" August 12 and 13. III. Julian Ebersold reported on erecting signs at historic sites. We will begin with only two: one at the Elkhorn Lodge and one at Dunraven's cottage on Fish Creek. IT WAS SUGGESTED that a letter be written to the Texas Highway'Dept,-asking where metal signs designating this as a Bicentennial City may be purchased to be affixed to City Limit signs on 34, 36, and 7. IV. Mary Rosener and Gene Dykes reported on fund-raising. Motion was made and carried that cannisters be collected before Feb 16 and a report of receipts be made at the meeting that day. V. Margaret Houston reported $120.53 on hand aside from $129 in the Flagpole fund gained from cannisters to date. VI. Gene Dykes reported on "Living Trails." At a meeting in Boulder on Jan 16 the Colorado Therapeutic and Recreational Society through its representatives showed an interest in sponsoring the project in Estes Park for the blind and handicapped. RMNP wiill cooperate. VII. Charles Chaffin reported progress on his musical pageant; that the Denver Symphony will give a concert at the Y in July; that the Fine Arts Guild is sponsoring a film on Mme Brico, January 31; and that in February hYankee-Doodle: a ballet in bluejeans" will be presented. Ruth Deffenbaugh reported that the Library will sponsor four film programs Friday evenings in April, color films of the area taken by Tom Denton of RMNP. The American Issue Forums are successful. IX.
