The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. Minutes were approved. (A correction•in the name of one of the "Women's Club" sponsors for "American Issues" was changed to Claudia Hyde.) The treasurer's report remains the same: $212.75. Attendance. was taken and excused absences were noted. Under old business, a committee was appointed to oversee the "American Issues Forum:" Fred Steffens Ginger Adrian Ruth Deffenbaugh "American Issues" topics and dates are listed on an enclosed sheet. Members of the commission are urged to share this information with the group they represent. The first forum will be on Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 7:30 p.m. (Municipal Building -- upstairs) The topic will be, "Founding Peoples - Nation of Nations" with Dr. Rosemary Whitaker from CSU as the head speaker and Fred Steffens, Becky Miller, and Charles Whiting as the panel. Margaret, Houston reported for the "Presentation Committee" -- Beth Heroux, secretary of the Fine Arta Guild, will help to finalize details. The Bicentennial plaque and flag will be presented at the Air Force Band concert. on Sept. a.9. The presentation will take place for 10-15 minutes at the middle of the band program with Mayor Tregent or someone in his place officiating. It was announced that the Freedom Train has been cancelled for Denver It is to visit Colorado aprings on October 3,4,&5. (Cost - $2 adults and $1 children) The "Ways and Means" committee did not meet. They will have a fund raising idea for the September meeting. Many ideas were brought up for the "F.O.Stanley again did not have ae Day." (Sincetwe date off PIa quorm, a vote could not be taken.) A Tentative Y '76 was suggested. More details on Stanley's life are needed. Marge Wolpert mentioned that the old fashioned style show for next year men- tioned. Nat'l The booklet of historic places in Estes Park done by the 7th graders last year is for sale at the Museum. Attendance was then brought up. In accordance with the by-laws, it was agreed by all to send a letter of dismial to members who have missed 3 (or more) consecutive meetings. (Glenn Prosser, Bob Dies, Lois Schmidt and Corky Rogers.) r- Under new business, nominations for officers will be made at the Sept.-15 meeting with elections in October. Projects for approval? John Ownby suggested painting the fire Hydran red/white/blue with stars -- an idea he had seen. Charles Chaffin mentioned that the national Bicentennial Committee suggested that slides be taken of each project. Moses Swindler, who is a professional photographer will be contacted.
