HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Board of Directors Estes Park Golf and Country Club 1940-10-31DIRECTORS MEETING October 31, 1940 The meeting was called .to order by President Gooch at the Hayden Realty Company office at 2:15 P. M. Directors present were Gooch, Hayden, Brainard, Hall, Preston and Lewis. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read. - Treasurer Brainard read his annual report, which is attached and made a part of these minutes. This report was discussed at length, and Brainard was thanked for the completeness of the report,and for his part in making it one of the most favorable in recent years. It was agreed. that Pro. Chick Williams had done very unsatisfactory work the previous season, and that he not be re-employed. The application of Chick Shores of Hannibal Missouri was discussed at length,and the secretary was instructed by motion, duly seconded and carried, to write him a proposition; Salary to be $50.00 a month and room and board at the Club for June, July, and August, plus 25% of all green fees from $1.00 and 500 play above the amount of $1,500.00. This would be in lieu of the $50.00 bonus given Chick Williams attheend of the season, otherwise the conitracts would be .substantially the same. It was later decidedhe should also receive 25% of the NET profits of the tournament or tournaments. There. was discussion of adding horseshoe pitching courts, shuffleboard courts, and enlarging the tennis court; in an effort to develope the club as a popular center for light sports. It was also suggested that National Park naturalist lectures might be arrangedfor at the club one or two evenings a wek, and square dances held. It was moved, seconded and carried that. a.committee,.Gooch Chairman, Preston, and Dave Canfield investigate the possibilities, and report to the directors. At the suggestion of Brainard, Pres. Gooch appointed Wm. Dings to head a committee to investigate and make recommendations for an educational andentertainment program to improve tha caddy situation. Meeting adjourned, at 4:35.P.
