MID -YEAR UPDATE.
Director Anderson briefed all in attendance on the following
projects:
Post Office Riverwalk - This section of riverwalk was
completed in early June and was finished under budget.
Bond Park Revitalisation - Following demolition of the old
library building, the area was sodded. EPURA believes the
park should remain as open space with a minimum of formal
structures or hard surface, and is recommending that when a
Master Plan is prepared, this suggestion be considered as its
primary focus. The Board of Trustees elected to postpone a
decision on EPURA's recommendation pending upcoming public
hearings.
75th Anniversary Plaques - Construction of said display walls
located at the Coffee Bar island began June 24th. The
contractor has experienced a delay due to unforeseen
obstacles. Dedication will occur July 11 at 10:00 A.M. Two
historic walking tours will take place the afternoon of July
llth.
Resetting of Streetscape Pavers - Pavers were reset
throughout the downtown area of Streetscapes I and II, as well
as the transit center.
MISCELLANEOUS.
Staff advised that interest (private) has been expressed with
obtaining a Herb Mignery sculpture entitled "Green Apples" and
installing it in Bond Park. With preparation of a Master Plan,
perhaps placement of the sculpture could be incorporated. The
private sector has initiated a fund -drive in hopes of collecting
$20,000± for the purchase of the sculpture. No further action was
taken at this time.
Director Anderson requested an Executive Session to discuss
strategy for legal action pertaining to the Stanley Historic
District Roadway. Following a unanimous vote in favor, the meeting
adjourned to Executive Session at 7:55 A.M.
