(The 1983 purse will be approximately $18,000). - Stock contract increased from $10,775 to $12,000. Addition of a Wednesday matinee with costs associated with this show - i.e. announcer, specialty act, clowns, etc. The Committee recommends signing the 1983 Rodeo Agreement. REPAIR OF THE BARNS: Manager Bob Scott stated that the concrete footings for the barns have been replaced but the carpentry work still needs to be done - approximate cost $6,000. Manager Scott asked if he should take bids for the work or negotiate with a carpenter for a price to repair the barns. The Committee recommends Manager Scott negotiate the repair costs with a carpenter. PURCHASE OF USED EQUIPMENT: Manager Scott stated that he would like to go to the farm auction to purchase equipment for Stanley Park and get the best possible price rather than trying to bid the equipment. The Committee recommends that Manager Scott purchase the equipment at the farm auction. Manager Scott reported that he had found a 1976 Ford water truck (1800 gallon capacity) at Colorado Truck and Equipment in Denver and he will be taking Gary Shanafelt with him to look at the truck. COLOR SCHEME AT STANLEY PARK: Manager Scott reported that the Horse Show and Rodeo Committee had discussed at length the need to have all the buildings at Stanley Park the same color. The Horse Show and Rodeo Committee is recommending the buildings be painted white with green trim. Approximately $1,000 has been budgeted for paint this year. A painter reported to the Horse Show and Rodeo Committee that it will take 2-3 coats of white paint to cover the brown. The Committee recommends that the buildings at Stanley Park be painted white with green trim and that Manager Scott paint as many of the buildings as he has funds for this year. Additional funds will be requested in the 1984 budget. COMMERCIAL EXHIBITS: Manager Scott reported that Port -A -Stall has provided stalls for BRADFORD PUBLISHING CO., DENVER RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Stanley Park Committee - January 24, 1983 - Page 2 commercial exhibitors in past years at Stanley Park. This year the stalls will not be available. Manager Scott reported that the Park is earning $100.00 a space per show or $400.00 a space for the season from commercial exhibitors. Manager Scott requested an opportunity to investigate the possibility of leasing a portable building to accommodate the commercial exhibitors. The Committee recommends that Manager Scott investigate the cost of a portable building and determine whether it is cost effective. STALL CONTRACT: Manager Scott reported that Geise-Skipworth Buildings is still negotiating with the Town regarding the new barn/stalls. Apparently Geise-Skipworth will be working with a subcontractor, Stable Steel, who would be furnishing the performance bond for the new barn/stalls. Public Works Director Widmer stated that Attorney Greg White feels that since the bid is in the name of Geise-Skipworth, he has a problem with Stable. Steel furnishing the bond. A lengthy discussion followed. The Committee recommends that the Town Attorney, Town Staff, and the Contractor work out the problem. REPORTS: Administrator Dale Hill reported that the draft copy of the Stanley Park feasibility study from Browne, Bortz & Coddington is being reviewed by Public Works Director Widmer and Stanley Park Manager Bob Scott. The final copy of the report will be presented at the next Stanley Park meeting on Monday, February 28, 1983, at 7:30 p.m. in Room 100 - the Board of Trustees and the Horse Show and Rodeo Committee are invited to attend. Dale VerStraeten asked the Committee about the possibility of placing a stage coach uptown during Rodeo Week. The stage coach would be in the downtown area from Wednesday, July 20th, through Saturday, July 23rd. A lengthy discussion followed regarding the appropriate location for the stage coach. The Stanley Park Committee will be working with the Horse Show and Rodeo Committee to find a location for the stagecoach. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned. Ann E.
