DENVER RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Stanley Park Committee August 22, 1983 Committee: Chairman Wagner, Trustees Dannels and Wood Attending: All Also Attending: Town Administrator Hill, Public Works Director Widmer, Manager Bob Scott, Clerk Jensen, several members of the Horse Show and Rodeo Committee EVENT CENTER (INDOOR ARENA) REPORT - CLINT FAIRCHILD: Mr. Clint Fairchild presented the Committee with some amendments to the pre -design analysis for the Event Center at Stanley Park. Mr. Fairchild stated that there were three amendments to the original design: (1) The proposed arena diagram was moved slightly east to align with the barn buildings; (2) A breakdown of height alternatives was submitted on the six proposed buildings; and (3) The cost of the thin -shell concrete building was changed to $1,555,000. A discussion followed on the heights of the different building structures and the possibility of berming the building. Mr. Dale VerStraeten stated that the Horse Show and Rodeo Committee is recommending the thin -shell concrete dome building structure of approximately 50' in height (or 42' in height, if bermed). The reason the Committee chose this structure was because it was attractive, it was energy efficient, and the long-term maintenance would be less expensive than the other structures considered. The dome structure would be 265' in diameter with an arena floor of 110' by 240'and would seat 2,000 people. Mr. Fairchild showed a slide presentation of several different dome structures. A lengthy discussion followed on financing for the Event Center. Mr. Fairchild stated that architectural services and grading had not been included in the $1,555,000.00 figure, which would raise the overall cost to build to approximately $2 million dollars. The Committee suggested that the Horse Show and Rodeo Committee meet with the Urban Renewal Authority Board to discuss funding. No recommendations were made. 1984 BUDGET: The Committee reviewed the 1984 Stanley Park Budget. It was agreed that the Lion's Club Concession stand funds would be included as a line item under Revenue in the Stanley Park Budget. A discussion followed on the equipment yard/office capital expenditure. The Committee will take the budget under advisement. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned. Ann E. Je =-n, Town Clerk
