"HISTORY FAIR" - ESTES PARK AREA HISTORICAL MUSEUM:
Museum Director Mel Busch and Elaine Hostmark appeared before the
Committee advising a "History Fair" has been scheduled for
Saturday, June 15, 1985 from 10:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M. The schedule
of events include a "Treasure Sale", hay rides, dulcimer music,
contest of best dressed historical character and demonstrations
performed by MacGregor Ranch, Herb Thompson, Rocky Mountain
Anglers, weavers and spinners. Light snacks and soft beverages
will be sold in an effort to raise money for the museum. The
Museum is in hopes of making the "History Fair" an annual event.
There is a possibility that the use of the "mountain wagon", that
was built by F. O. Stanley, presently in the area, could be
included in the Fair. Discussion followed with the Committee
recommending approval of the event with a suggestion that the
Museum obtain a copy of the "Certificate of Insurance" from
MacGregor Ranch and the owner of the mountain wagon which would
confirm insurance coverage on the Museum property.
COLORADO HUNTER -JUMPER HORSE SHOW CONTRACT:
Manager Scott presented the standard horse show contract for the
Colorado Hunter -Jumper Horse Show scheduled for July 24 - 28,
1985. The Committee recommends approval of the Colorado Hunt-
er -Jumper Horse Show Contract.
STANLEY PARK USED STRAW (COMPOST) - UPDATE
Manager Scott advised the Committee of the options available
concerning the proposed "compost operation." Discussion followed
which included choosing the best possible time to blacktop an
area approximately 100'x200' which must be completed prior to the
actual operation of turning used straw into organic soil compost.
This item was not budgeted for 1985 and the Committee recommends
no further action be taken at this time.
STANLEY PARK GROUNDS - VANDALISM:
Manager Scott advised the Committee of vandalism which has been
occurring at the Stanley Park Grounds. Replacement of five
windows and one door, a venetian blind, and screen are the result
of the most recent incident. Evidence also suggests the barn
stalls have been used as sleeping quarters. The Committee
discussed possible deterrents to prevent such vandalism and
recommends Staff obtain further information and return to the
Committee for their review.
