COLORADO HIGH SCHOOL RODEO ASSOCIATION - REQUEST FOR BID PRO-
POSALS:
In a letter dated May 1, 1986, the Colorado High School Rodeo
Association requested bids for the 1987 State Finals Rodeo which
is held the third week of June. The Association is credited with
greatly stimulating the Estes Park economy during its four -day
event. Approximately 185 contestants participated in the events
held in 1985. Discussion followed concerning the list of
requirements submitted by the Association and also rental fee of
the grounds, the possibility of collecting contributions from
those businesses affected by the event, such as motels, hotels,
restaurants, etc., and assistance in selling advertisements for
the rodeo program. The Committee recommends Manager Scott
proceed with negotiations. Upon completion of a foLmal proposal,
Manager Scott will so inform Committee members prior to
submission to the Colorado High School Rodeo Association.
PURCHASE OF BLEACHERS ON CO-OP BASIS - UPDATE:
Finance Officer Vavra reported on information received from the
Town's insurance carrier regarding the Co -Op purchase of
bleachers. Concern was expressed regarding liability and respon-
sibility of ownership. Storage of the units on the grounds would
also expose the Town to possible liability. The Horse Show and
Rodeo Committee has recommended denial of the purchase.
Following discussion, the Committee also recommends denial of the
purchase, including storage of the units should they be purchased
by a private source.
REPORTS:
Manager Scott reported on the International Association of Fairs
and Expositions Zone 7 Meeting held in Albuquerque May 14 - 16,
1986. Approximately 60 fair managers, five of which were from
Colorado, attended the conference. The topics were very perti-
nent to the Stanley Park operation.
