Chairman Hix called the meeting to order at 8:30 A.M.
AMERICADE UPDATE -- RALLY IN THE ROCKIES
Americade will continue in Estes Park, under the name Rally 'N The
Rockies. The Rally will be August 24-28, 1993. Ken and Marsha
Hobert are the organizers, with resource/support from the Town.
The Town will provide $8,000, to be used solely for cash flow
purposes and returned to the Town from profits. The Committee
recommends approval to proceed with the organization of Rally 'n
the Rockies.
PARK USAGE
The Special Events Department is responsible for issuance of park
use permits which are required to use Riverside Park, Bond Park,
and Tregent Park. In an effort to become more efficient in
processing the application, park use regulations were drafted. The
Committee recommends adoption of the park use regulations,
application, and drawings, as amended.
WALTER ALSBAUGH MEMORIAL -- COWBOY CRISIS FUND
The Cowboy Crisis Fund assists injured cowboys. The Committee
recommends approval of the donation of $500 to the Cowboy Crisis
Fund for a Walter Alsbaugh Memorial in recognition of his 38 years
of assistance and support to the Estes Park community.
POTENTIAL 1993 EVENTS
Potential events to be added to the 1993 calendar include October
Fest, National Kite Fly Competition, and Mountain Bike Competition.
Some costs will be incurred by the Town as follows:
October Fest $4,000
National Kite Fly Competition $4,500
Mountain Bike Competition $5,500
These costs are included in the 1993 budget. The Committee
recommends approval for planning an October Fest, National Kite Fly
Competition, and Mountain Bike Competition for 1993, and return to
Committee with more specifics regarding these events for further
consideration.

REPORTS
Committee recommends approval for the Shriner's Convention to be
held in Estes Park, June 4-5, 1993, with the Town providing police
assistance and 1-2 hours' use of Fairgrounds Grand Stand.
The local 4-H Chapter requested use of the fairgrounds and staff
researched insurance coverage requirements with CIRSA and Town
Attorney White. The Committee recommends approval of the
fairgrounds use by the local 4-H Chapter.
The Surprise Sale was a success this year, with more merchants
participating.
The Christmas Parade is scheduled for November 27th, at 5:30 p.m.
An open house will be held Tuesday, November 24th, Fairgrounds Barn
W, 5:30 to 7:00 P.M., to view the floats.
Chairman Hix commended the Special Events staff for their work
during the past year.
The next two regularly -scheduled Special Events Committee meetings
will be cancelled because of conflicts with holidays. There being
no further business, Chairman Hix adjourned the meeting at 9:15
A.M.
