Emerine, Dr. Sue Patton, Deputy Clerk Heifner Town Clerk O'Connor Chairman Garrett called the meeting to order at 8:03 A.M. ESTES PARK POLICE DEPARTMENT Animal Control Proposal - The Committee reviewed an agreement between the Town of Estes Park and Susan E. Patton, dba Estes Park Animal Clinic. Provisions of this agreement include: Item 5. Adding a last sentence to item 5: "First party shall have no obligation to second party in the event any owners of the dogs receiving care do not pay for said care. This relieves the Town of medical fees for impounded animals. Item 6. That the first party (Town) shall pay to the second party (Dr. Patton) the sum of Six Hundred Dollars ($600.00) per month for the services furnished as herein provided. This fee shall cover one hundred fifty (150) impounds for the calendar year. In the event there are more than one hundred fifty (150) impounds, first party shall pay second party Ten Dollars ($10.00) per day for each impound with a five (5) day maximum for each impound. First party shall pay second party Twelve and 50/100 Dollars ($12.50) for each euthanasia. Chief Racine explained that when an animal is impounded by the Police Department, it is held for five days. After this period, the dog is released for adoption or euthanasia at Dr. Patton's discretion. After five days, the Police Department (Town) has no further liability. The Police Department presently distributes flyers to the public explaining what occurs following impound of a dog. This flyer will be updated as the need arises. Dr. Patton noted her insurance coverage exceeds the amount listed in item 7. BRADFORD PUBLISHING CO. Patton, dba Estes Park Animal Clinic. The regularly scheduled Public Safety Committee meetings for the months of November and December 1990 are cancelled.
