RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS âś“Public Safety Committee April 23, 1992 Committee: Chairman Hix, Trustees Aldrich and Habecker Attending: Chairman Hix, Trustee Habecker Also Attending: Trustee Barker, Police Chief Racine, Fire Chief Rumley, Police Lieutenant Emerine, Clerk O'Connor Absent: Trustee Aldrich Chairman Hix called the meeting to order at 2:00 P.M. POLICE DEPARTMENT. NEW OFFICERS - SWEARING -IN CEREMONY. Police Chief Racine introduced, and Town Clerk O'Connor swore - in the following new Police Officers: KIM CULLOO JAMES KENNEY ROBERT SCHUMAKER The Committee offered their congratulations and welcomed the officers. ESTES PARK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - REOUEST ROAD CLOSURE AUTHORIZATION TO CONDUCT PARENT/CHILD ROAD RACE. The Elementary School has requested Brodie Avenue be closed for approximately one (1) hour from 9:45 - 10:45 A.M. on Wednesday, May 13 to conduct the parent/child road race commonly known as the "Maniac Mile." The School has conducted this race in the past. The Committee recommends approval of the request. REPORTS. Lt. Emerine presented test copies of new statistical data recently made available through the use of the Larimer County Sheriff's Department computer system. Reports generated through this system will provide a monthly dispatch summary identifying time intervals between dispatching a call and completing said call. In addition, the Department will have the ability to focus in on the time of day when calls are most frequent. Chief Racine commented that such cooperation with the Sheriff's Department, i.e. providing office space, has proved very beneficial to the Town. The Committee commended both Departments in establishing such a high level of cooperation. Monthly Reports were unavailable as the existing computer system (hard -drive) failed. However, data was not lost, and it will be converted to a stand-alone system. As suggested, special attention will be given to Summer personnel relative to the skateboard ordinance. The Committee questioned the possibility of barbed-wire removal, and this item will be referred to the Public Works Committee. Chief Racine and the Committee commended both the Police and Sheriff's Departments for their work on the remodeling/relocation efforts. Following completion of all agenda items, Chief Racine will conduct a tour of the BRADFORD PUBLISHING CO. RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Public Safety Committee - April 23, 1992 - Page 2 Communications Center and Police Department. As stated during the April 14, 1992 Town Board meeting, the Public Safety Committee will meet once every two months --the next meeting will be scheduled June 25, 1992. VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT. MUTUAL AID AGREEMENT - LARIMER COUNTY. Fire Chief Rumley presented the Mutual Aid Agreement with Larimer County which includes Fire Departments from Allenspark, Berthoud, Big Elk Meadows, Crystal Lakes, Estes Park, Glacier View, Glen Haven, Loveland, Pinewood Springs, Poudre Canyon Stations 1-3, Red Feather Lakes, Rist Canyon, Wellington, and the Larimer County Sheriff's Department. Chief Rumley reported that if assistance is given to any agency not included in the Agreement, said assistance could be made reimbursable. Town Attorney White has reviewed the Agreement. The Committee recommends approval of the Mutual Aid Agreement with Larimer County, authorizing Fire Chief Rumley to execute same.
