Fire Chief Dorman, Secretary Allsop

Chairman Marshall called the meeting to order at 3:30 p.m.
POLICE DEPARTMENT
Radar Purchase. There is not a radar in every Patrol vehicle at this point. The Genesis is
hand held but stationary only. The mounted radar cannot be moved once it is mounted. The
most versatile one for the Police Department's needs is the MPH Speedgun Hand Held Radar
Unit. It has a stationary mode and a moving mode in any direction. Chief Repola would like
to purchase two units at the price of $1,595 per unit. He said there is $4,500 in the budget for
these units. The Committee recommends purchase of two of the MPH Speedgun Hand
Held Radar Units.
Personnel Report. Twenty applicants were tested the latter part of February. There are now
two Patrol positions to be filled in the Police Department (Charles Rowe submitted his
resignation and is now working for Westminster PD). There are two conditional job offers
pending their psychological and physical tests. It was pointed out by Widmer that there were
other people on the Oral Board Committee besides EPPD officers; i.e., an employee from the
Finance Department and LCSD.
Update on Back -Up Plan for Communications Center. Will be meeting with Motorola
032098 regarding their recommendations and are also getting assistance from PRPA. The
1998 budget may be impacted because of the necessity of purchasing a $4,000 radio. Two
tests have been done; one at the Fire Station and the other at the Light & Power Building
because of the fiberoptic network. Putting a building at the radio tower is not feasible because
of location and accessibility. PRPA has given us another option with a radio link. In
December, a phone line was cut and the radios were down in the Communications Center,
now we have back-up.
FIRE DEPARTMENT
Nothing to report.
REPORTS
No Reports.
There being no further business, Chairman Marshall adjourned the meeting at 4:03 p.m.
