Mr. Frenzel, Mr. Miles and Mr. Marks appeared before the Police Committee for
the purpose of inquiring as to methods of controlling the young hoodlum element
that seems to be present in Estes Park. The previous 4th of July weekend was
discussed at length. Mr. Frenzel, Mr. Miles and Mr. Marks suggested the prob-
lem was aggravated by the location of Jax Snax. It was also the opinion of
those appearing before the Committee that the problem was getting more serious
each year. Chairman Petrocine said the Police Department would do everything
legally possible to control the young hoodlum element. Chairman Petrocine also
suggested the overall problem was more than just a Police Committee problem,
and that the entire community should concern itself with this problem.
In discussing the Ambulance Service, Chairman Petrocine reported Dr. Luce in
favor of the suggested restricted Ambulance Service and Doctors J. 0. and Wayne
Mall in favor of service to a valley hospital when and if the attending phys-
ician deemed the case an emergency. Mayor Graves reported Mr. Kibbey would
consent to any type of Ambulance Service the Town desired. After considerable
discussion the Committee decided to contact the Civil Air Patrol and the Red
Cross and set up a meeting for the purpose of exploring the feasibility of a
volunteer group taking over the Ambulance Service and operating it on a basis
similar to the operation of the Volunteer Fire Department.
The Committee instructed the Clerk to prepare the new Model Traffic Ordinance
for a first reading on July 25, 1966.
The Committee discussed the Policeman's Pension plans. Chief Banks will supply
copies of the two plans to the members of the Committee. The Committee will
study the plans further at their next meeting.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
