Hartwell and Town Clerk Hill Absent: None Mr. Hartwell discussed the recent Merinda, etc., Supreme Court decisions with the Police Committee. The manner in which all of these decisions affect the operation and procedures of the Police Department were ex- plained in detail. Town Attorney Hartwell suggested the permanent Police personnel be schooled in the new procedures he feels are necessary so that the Town of Estes Park Police Department and Municipal Court system will comply and function in a manner oanpatible with the above mentioned Supreme Court decisions. If the schooling sessions are conducted, they will con- sist of 4 sessions, each one hour long.. Mr. Hartwell also suggested that future police procedures include the use of a tape recorder. As per the suggestion of Mayor Graves, Town Attorney Hartwell discussed the procedure for the Police Committee to act as a screening committee in re- commending a person to be appointed Town of Estes Park Police Magistrate. It was suggested a public notice be placed in the Estes Park Trail advertising the fact that the Town of Estes Park is accepting applications for the posi- tion of Police Magistrate.
