HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Police Committee 1967-08-22RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Police Committee August 22, 1967 Committee: Chairman Petrocine; Trustees Grove and Tregent Attending: Chairman Petrocine; Trustees Grove and Tregent Also Attending: Police Chief Banks and Town Clerk Hill Mr. James Conant of the Estes Park Ambulance Service appeared before the Committee to discuss possible methods he could use to raise money for the ambulance. Mr. Conant mentioned such things as dinners and contri- butions. The Committee had a lengthy discussion as to whether or not the Town should accept contributions. The Committee recommends to the Board of Trustees that the present contractual arrangement between the Town of Estes Park and the Estes Park Ambulance Service remain in effect until further notice and that the Town will not request contributions to maintain the ambulance. The Police Committee discussed Section 18.6 of the Town of Estes Park Municipal Code -- "Dogs Running at Large." The Committee instructed Chief Banks to see that the ordinance is enforced as soon as the facilities to house animals are completed. Chief Banks was instructed to review the Municipal Code and work out the details for enforcement. Chief Banks suggested his department may have to purchase an animal tranquilizer gun for the purpose of subduing vicious dogs. The Committee recommends that Mr. Art Janousek be engaged to care for the dogs impounded on a part-time basis, and the compensation to Mr. Janousek will be the same as provided for in Section 18.8-1 of the Town Municipal Code -- "Upon the impoundment of any dog it shall be the duty of the Police Department to notify the owner or custodian of such dog in writing that the dog has been impounded and will be released upon proof that the dog is properly licensed and the payment of a pound service fee of $3.00 together with the sum of $1.50 for each day of impoundment for board and keep. The notice shall be served either personally or by registered or certified mail addressed to the last known address of the owner or custodian." The Police Committee reviewed the proposed Police Budget for 1968,esroas-: Po iceNepa'r merit The Police Committee reviewed the delinquent occupational and amusement licenses. Chief Banks was instructed to enforce collection of the above mentioned licenses. Chief Banks stated collection of these licenses would begin Thursday, August 24, 1967.
