HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Police Committee 1967-11-29RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Police Committee November 29, 1967 Committee: Chairman Petrocine; Trustees Grove and Tregent Attending: Chairman Petrocine; Trustee Grove Absent: Trustee Tregent Also Attending: Police Magistrate Wilson, Chief Banks, Town Clerk Hill Judge Wilson gave a report on the operation of the municipal court during the year 1967. A copy of this report is attached to and made a part of these minutes. In addition to the written report, Judge Wilson made the following suggestions: Police Committee intends to study these rec- recommendations. 1. That the Town Attorney prosecute all cases in which a com- plaining witness files the complaint and the defendent is represented by counsel. The Judge also recommends the Town Attorney interview the complaining witness prior to the fil- ing of a complaint. 2. The Judge recommends his salary be increased from $1,600.00 per year to $2,400.00 per year. The Judge bases this suggest- ion on an estimate of 150 court cases with an average time spent of one hour per case. The Committee again reviewed the Liquor Occupation Tax Ordinance and now recommend to the Board of Trustees that the code be amended to incorpor- ate the following fees in section 14.8-4 of the Municipal Code: Class "A" Operators: All operators who are licensed to sell beer, wine and spirituous liquors for consumption on the prem- ises either as hotels or restaurants shall be Class "A" Opera- tors. $500.00 Class "B" Operators: All operators licensed to sell malt or vinous liquors only by the drink for consumption on the premi- ses shall be Class "B" Operators. $500.00 Class "C" Operators: All operators licensed as retail stores to sell in original containers malt, vinous, or spirituous liquors for consumption off the premises shall be Class "C" Operators. $300.00 Class "D" Operators: All operators licensed as drug stores to sell malt, vinous or spirituous liquors in original con- tainers for consumption off the premises shall be Class "D" Operators. $300.00 Class "E" Operators: All operators licensed to sell malt, vinous, or spirituous liquors as clubs are Class "E" Operators. $350.00 Class "F-1" Operators: All operators licensed to sell only 3.2% beer for consumption off the premises at the licensee shall be Class "F-1" Operators. $250.00 RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Police Committee (continued) November 29, 1967 Class "F-2" Operators: All operators licensed to sell only 3.2% beer for consumption on the premises of the licensee shall be Class "F-2" Operators. $500.00 Class "F-3" Operators: All operators licensed to sell only 3.2% beer for consumption both on and off the premises of the licensee shall be Class "F-3" Operators. $600.00 The Clerk was instructed to have the necessary ordinance drawn to make the above changes effective as of January 1,1968. The Committee discussed the Dog Ordinance and decided to continue the discussion at the next Police Committee meeting. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned. Dale G.
