These sessions are to train the Police De- partment personnel in police procedures as they relate to the recent Merinda court decisions. The Town Attorney estimates the sessions will last about four hours. The Committee and Chief Banks have discussed the need for regular inter- departmental training sessions. These training sessions will be directed toward improved police procedures dealing with other than legal matters as such. It is the desire of the Committee and the Department that the sessions be conducted on a regular basis, i.e. "x" number of hours per week, and that the schooling sessions will result in written rules and regulations dealing with all standard police operating procedures. The Committee recommends Town Board approval of the above. The Committee set its next meeting for February 15, 1967 at 4:00 p.m. for the purpose of discussing possible changes in the Municipal Court proce- dures. Police Magistrate William C. Wilson will make his suggestions known at this meeting. The Committee decided not to consider any changes in the Policemen's Pension Plan until the Committee has had a meeting with the Mayor. Improved public relations along with directional information to visitors as to the locations of municipal parking lots is being studied by the Com- mittee. Various methods of communicating with the visitors were discussed. Further study is needed on this subject. The Committee decided to invite any or all Police Department personnel into Police Committee meetings scheduled for the second Wednesday of March, June, September, and December. The purpose of this procedure is to improve communications between the Department personnel and the Committee. Notices of this meeting will be sent to all members of the Police Department. The Committee recommends the Board of Trustees authorize the purchase of two radios at an estimated cost of $579.00 each. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned. Dale G.
