February 14, 1968
Committee: Chairman Petrocine, Trustees Grove and Tregent
Attending: Chairman Petrocine, Trustees Grove and Tregent
Also Attending: Chief Banks, Sgt. Janousek, and Town Clerk Dale G. Hill
The Committee discussed at length, the Town of Estes Park Occupation
Tax. As a result of the study and the Town Attorney's opinion, the
Police Committee recommends to the Board of Trustees, that all businesses
be licensed.
The following suggestions for administrating the Occupation tax were
suggested:
1. The Clerk's office shall send statements for renewals each
December first and the licenses will become delinquent on
January first.
2. The Clerk's office shall use all means available to add
businesses to the list.
3. A letter with a return postal card requesting help in est-
ablishing a list of businesses shall be sent to selected
persons.
4. The Police Department will be furnished an up-to-date listing
of paid and unpaid Occupation Taxes. The Police Department
list will be up -dated each day by the Clerk's office.
5. License decals should be issued for each delivery vehicle so
that the Police Department could check visually on each in-
dividual truck. Decals shall be located on the left window
or window wing of the vehicle. Decals will be issued for
businesses located in Estes Park for display on their front
doors.
6. Procedures should be established that would encourage the
businesses to purchase their licenses before engaging in
business in Estes Park.
It was reported to the Police Committee that Mr. James Knox dba Lake
Terrace Cottages, has paid his delinquent occupation tax licenses for
1966 and 1967. The case against Mr. Knox has been dismissed.
Chairman Petrocine reviewed the differences between the contributory
and non-contributory pension plans. After considerable discussion,
the Police Committee, decided to table this matter.
Chief Banks requested information on repairing and cleaning the Police
Station. This matter was tabled.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
