HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Public Safety Committee 1971-11-17r RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Public Safety Committee November 17, 1971 Committee: Chairman Petrocine; Trustees Tregent and Brownfield Attending: Chairman Petrocine; Trustees Tregent and Brownfield Also Attending: Town Administrator Hill, Police Chief Ault AMBULANCE: After considerable discussion the Committee decided to recommend the fol- lowing be added to the ambulance contract between Estes Park Ambulance, Inc and the Town of Estes Park: 1. Increase the subsidy from its present $4,800.00 per year ten percent to $5,280.00 per year, effective January 1, 1972. 2. The Police Department will assist the Estes Park Ambulance, Inc. in filling out the legal forms for the collection of bad debts. DISPOSAL OF 1968 PATROL CAR: The Committee reviewed the need existing in the department for the 1968 Plymouth and recommends it be retained in the department until such time as a new vehicle is purchased during 1972. DOGS: The Committee recommends the following changes in the dog control ordinance: 1. Add the following: "it shall be unlawful for any person to keep or maintain any animal within the Town which habitually or continuously disturbs the peace and quiet of the neighbor- hood and the keeping of any such animal shall be declared a nuisance". 2. Add the following: "vicious dogs - no biting, vicious or dangerous dogs shall be harbored, kept or be permitted to be kept or permitted to be at large within the Town. Whenever such biting, vicious, or dangerous dog shall be outside the enclosure of its owner or keeper it shall be deemed a public nuisance and shall be taken up and disposed of, whether such dog is licensed, registered, or numbered or otherwise. 3. Include a provision in the ordinance allowing the use of tran- quilizers or tranquilizer guns. 4. In Chapter 18 increase the fees and penalties to double the present fee for the second offense and triple the fee for the third offense, etc. 5.
