HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Public Safety Committee 1973-03-05RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Public Safety Committee March 5, 1973 Committee: Chairman Burgess; Trustees Petrocine and Sutter Attending: Chairman Burgess; Trustee Sutter Also Attending: Town Administrator Hill, Police Chief Ault Absent: Trustee Petrocine VEHICLE BIDS: (A) Motorcycle - The following bids were received on a Harley Davidson three wheel motorcycle: Harley Davidson - Boulder: Harley Davidson - Fort Collins: The Committee recommmends to the with trade in - $2,500.00 without trade in - $2,350.00 with trade in - $2,114.58 without trade in - $2,314.58 Board of Trustees that the Harley Davidson, Fort Collins bid of $2,114.58 be accepted. (B) Patrol car - The following bids were received for a patrol car: Trail Ridge Ford - Estes Park Garage(purchased through state) - $3,514.66 $3,595.00 The Committee recommends to the Board of Trustees that the Trail Ridge Ford bid of $3,514.66 be accepted. AMBULANCE EQUIPMENT: A list of items, as per the attached statement, were submitted to the Public Safety Committee in order to bring the ambulance up to the legal requirements set by the State of Colorado. The Committee recommends to the Board of Trustees that items one through seven ($129.45) and the used saw (255.95) for a total of $385.40, be, purchased. RECORDS SYSTEM: Chief Ault reported that all Larimer County police agencies are adopt- ing the records system now being used by Fort Collins and Estes Park. Upon the completion of this records system there will be computerized records available to all agencies in Larimer County. RADIOS: Chief Ault reported the Estes Park Police Department will change from the Colorado State Patrol frequency to a separate frequency. This change may be completed late this year. Chief Ault indicated there is a good possibility it would be funded with federal aid. MEG I - NARCOTICS GROUP: The Town of Estes Park has been requested to help provide funds, labor or equipment to the Meg I Narcotics Group. The Committee discussed the feasibility of donating the old black police car and some training funds to the Meg I Group. A final decision on this will be considered at the next meeting. r RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Public Safety Committee March 5, 1973 Page two DOGS: Chief Ault reported that due to the continued effort toward enforcement of the dog ordinance there seems to be a decrease in the number of dog complaints. UNLAWFUL ACCUMULATION OF TRASH: Chief Ault reported there will be six cases in Municipal Court on March 25th. These defendants have been charged with unlawful accumulation of trash. DOG POUND: The Town Administrator presented a proposed agreement between the Town of Estes Park and Wesley V. Metzler dba Estes Park Animal Clinic for the purpose of Dr. Metzler providing pound service to the Town of Estes Park. A proposed ordinance amending Section 7.12.060 and 7.12.070 of the Municipal Code was presented to the Committee. This ordinance will increase the board and room fee for dogs from $1.50 a day to $2.50 a day. The Committee recommends to the Board of Trustees that both the agreement and the ordinance be adopted.
