HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Public Safety Committee 1975-12-12RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Public Safety Committee December 12, 1974 Committee: Chairman Burgess; Trustees Petrocine and Sutter Attending: Chairman Burgess; Trustee Sutter Also Attending: Town Administrator Hill, Chief of Police Ault Absent: Trustee Petrocine VEHICLE PURCHASE: Due to the no lead gas requirements on passenger vehicles made in 1975, the Committee has investigated the purchase of a 1974 police vehicle rather than a vehicle made in 1975. Chief Ault has obtained the following prices on 1974 vehicles: 1. 1974 Plymouth Satellite $3,789.95; 2. 1974 Ford LTD $4,400.00 The Committee recommends the Board of Trustees authorize the purchase of the 1974 Plymouth. AMBULANCE: The Gibson Ambulance Service has requested an increase in the annual subsidy from $5,280.00 to $6,300.00. The Town Administrator presented the attached comparison showing the fee schedules of Estes Park, Fort Collins and Longmont. The Committee recommends the Board of Trustees amend the ambulance agreement dated July 1, 1972 between the Gibson Ambulance Service and the Town of Estes Park by changing the fee schedule from $30.00 plus $.75 per mile to $40.00 plus $1.00 per mile. EQUIPMENT: The Committee recommends the Police Department be authorized to purchase the following office equipment: 1. Electric typewriter $465.00 for the dispatcher. 2. Manual typewriter $245.00 for the squad room. 3. Chair $138.00 for the dispatcher. COUNTY COMMUNICATION: Chief Ault reported on a recent Larimer County emergency communication meeting. Estes Park's Police Department, Fire Department and Power Department was represented at this meeting. Additional information will be forth coming regarding this subject. SURPLUS 1971 VEHICLE: Chief Ault was authorized to dispose of the 1971 vehicle. RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS HOLDING CAGE: Chief Ault reported the proposed holding cage in the Police Department has cleared all State requirements. The Committee recommends Chief Ault be authorized to obtain prices on the cage construction and proceed with the best bid. Estimated cost of the cage is $400.00 PHYSICAL EXAMINATIONS: The Police Department has experienced a situation where a physical disability proved to be a problem. Due to obvious reasons for police personnel to be in good physical condition and police pension requirements, the Public Safety Committee recommends the Board of Trustees require physical examina- tions of all new police personnel. The estimated cost of each exam is $68.00 to $78.00. POLICE PERSONNEL: Chief Ault reviewed the Police Department Personnel schedule with the Committee.
