LARIMER COUNTY CONSOLIDATED COMMUNICATIONS:
The Committee discussed participating in the Larimer County Consolidated
Communications system which involves centralizing all dispatch communi-
cations of Larimer County. It appears the consolidation of communica-
tions would be advantageous in emergency situations or disasters but not
on a day-to-day basis. The Committee recommends informing the County
Commissioners that the Town of Estes Park does not wish to participate
in the consolidated communications system but would like access to the
communications system and requests funding to obtain the necessary
equipment for this access.
1977 MODEL TRAFFIC CODE:
The Committee reviewed and recommends adoption of the 1977 Model
Traffic Code.
ADDITIONAL OFFICER REQUEST:
Chief Ault submitted a request for an additional officer to help reduce
the amount of overtime and to cover for those officers absent or on
vacation. The Committee discussed the overall need and economics of
adding an officer and tabled consideration of the request until January
1978.
REPORTS:
NOISE CONTROL ORDINANCE - Chief Ault reported on his research
regarding a noise control ordinance. The Committee decided to
handle noise problems under existing state statutes until such
time that the problem would warrant adoption of a local noise
control ordinance.
DISASTER PLAN MEETING - The Hospital, Rocky Mountain National Park,
Red Cross, and the Estes Park Police Department participated in a
Disaster Plan Meeting on November 21st in which past performance
during the flood disaster was evaluated and jurisdictional boun-
daries, responsibilities, expertise, and equipment were established
for future disasters.
NEW EMPLOYEE - David Barker has been hired to fill the recently
vacated Police Officer I position.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
