STUDENT GOVERNMENT DAY:
A letter was submitted by Juvenile Officer Carl Cooper requesting that
a Student. Government Day in Estes Park be instituted. In_this program
students would work closely with various department heads and then
assume these positions and present hypothetical problems at a mock Town
Board meeting to student trustees. The Committee recommends the Student
Government Day be instituted and that it be pursued in detail in the
fall when classes resume.
INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF CHIEFS OF POLICE:
The Committee authorized Chief of Police Ault to attend the I.A.C.P.
conference to be held in Los Angeles October 1st through 6th.
DOG CONTROL ORDINANCE:
The Committee discussed a proposed amendment to the dog control ordi-
nance which would clear up existing vagueness. The Committee also re-
viewed a letter from the Town Attorney dated June 6, 1977 suggesting
an alternative to issuing citations in Municipal Court for dogs at large
and tabled the matter for further study.
SOCIETY FOR KRISHNA:
The Committee reviewed an opinion from Town Attorney Phipps dated June
10, 1977 along with the Denver Court case to which he refers regarding
restricting the activities of the Society for Krishna. In accordance
with the Town Attorney's opinion, the Committee recommends not pursuing
any action against the Society for Krishna through litigation.
REPORTS:
LOADING ZONE - The new temporary loading zone in front of the Park
Theatre will be established approximately 150 - 200 feet south of
Elkhorn Avenue on Moraine Avenue to a point just north of the bridge.
CAT CONTROL - Chief Ault reported the Police Department is attempting
to arrange a cooperative agreement with the Human Society in handling
cat problems.
STANLEY HOTEL LIQUOR INCIDENT - Chief Ault reported on the incident
at the Stanley Hotel on May 29, 1977 in which liquor was sold out-
side of the licensed premises, and also on a meeting held subsequentl
with Mr. Normali and his attorney, State Liquor Enforcement Officer,
and representatives of the Town regarding the incident.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
