LAW ENFORCEMENT ASSISTANCE ADMINISTRATION (LEAA):
Chief Ault submitted the following for funding under the LEAA crime prevention program:
Shoplifting prevention Burglary prevention
Check fraud prevention Child abuse prevention
Video -jail surveillance and training
Two additional channels for recorder (for communications)
The Committee directed Chief Ault to submit this list to Michael Maag, COG Criminal
Justice Planner, who originally requested Estes Park's participation in this program.
MOBILE RADIO BIDS:
The following bids for a mobile radio were received:
Motorola $1,178
RCA $ 854
GE $1,242
The amount budgeted for the mobile radio was $1200The Committee recommends accepting
RCA's bids of $854 and obtaining a CB base station for the Police Department to monitor
channel 9 (emergency) with the remaining budget funds. The Committee directed Chief
Ault to obtain prices for 23 and 40 channel units, to obtain a recommendation from the
communications officer, and to submit these to the Committee for final action.
DOG TRUCK BIDS:
The following bids were received for a small pick-up truck to be used as a dog patrol
vehicle:
Village Motors Datsun $3,726
Chev. "Love" $3,700
Ford $3,533
Estes Park Ford Ford $3,446
Estes Park Garage Scout Terra $4,662
Chev. "Love" $3,654
The Committee recommends accepting Estes Park Ford's bid for a white courier without
the AM radio making the total bid price of $3,315.
PATROL CAR BIDS:
Bids for the new patrol car will be submitted at the next meeting of the Public Safety
Committee.
LIABILITY FOR AMBULANCE TRIPS:
The Committee discussed medical and ambulance costs incurred as a result of Police

initiated referrals and decided to study the matter further.
