HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Public Safety Committee 1978-02-06BRADFORD PUBLISHING CO., DENVER RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Public Safety Committee ✓February 6, 1978 Committee: Chairman Burgess, Trustees Petrocine and Sutter Attending: Chairman Burgess, Trustees Petrocine and Sutter Also Attending: Town Administrator Hill, Police Chief Ault Absent: None RECIPROCAL FIRE PROTECTION AGREEMENT - LOVELAND: The Committee reviewed and recommends the Reciprocal Fire Protection Agreement with the City of Loveland be renewed. POLICE VEHICLES: The following bids were received for two police cars: State Nova $ 5,097.32 Fury I 5,282.56 Estes Park Garage . Aspen $ 3,775.00 (4,200 miles on it) Fury I 5,278.43 Trade in values on the 1974 and 1975 Plymouths are $300.00 each. Estes Park Ford Ltd $ 5,688.86 Ltd II 5,311.52 Trade in values are $600 for the high mileage car and $750 for the low mileage car. The Committee recommends accepting Estes Park Garage's bid for two Fury I and authorizing Chief Ault to negotiate sales of the old vehi- cles with interested Towns and Cities. SECOND WEAPON HANDOUT: Officer Walt Kappely requested that police officers be allowed to carry an automatic off duty and as a second weapon on duty. Chief Ault expressed concern regarding the liability involved in carrying such a weapon. The Committee tabled the request until the next committee meeting. REPORTS: RECIPROCAL POLICE AID AGREEMENT is currently being reviewed by the other cities and counties involved. "OPERATION I.D." is being promoted with the help of the E.V.I.A. and A.A.R.P. t.
